Monthly Tip : May

Hitting your hybrids more like an iron.

I get asked “ what is the best way to hit your hybrid”?
Answer: You must try to hit the hybrid like a middle iron. Most amateurs try to scoop or lift their hybrids, which is why most end up topping them. You must first set up with your shoulders more level like your irons. Your ball position then must be inside your left heel and not too far forward. Then you need to swing the club more vertical, on the backswing so that the club will come down on a steeper angle. This in turn will allow the club to make contact with the ball first . Most higher handicappers will play the ball too far forward and swing the club too much around their bodies trying to create a more shallow to upward swing to try and lift the ball killing the usefulness of the hybrid.
