Environmentally Conscious Vert●able Now Open at The Market Shops At Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Released on Monday, December 10, 2007

Destin, Fla. – (Dec. 10, 2007) –   Adding to the one-of-a-kind shopping experience at The Market Shops at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is Vert●able, a “green” boutique offering high-end products that are recycled, re-newed, reused, organic, fair-trade, environmentally safe and healthy. Vert●able, next to Angels Cosmetics, is now open for business.

Inside Vert●able, you’ll find Harvey’s Original Seat Belt Bags, English Retreads handbags, Envirosax reusable shopping bags and Wrapsacks as well as hypo-allergenic and all-natural baby and cleaning products. Vert●able also carries note cards made from recycled paper.

“Awareness is the first step to being ecologically-friendly,” says Vert●able store owner Todd Sachs. “We were always indirectly taking small steps towards protecting and helping to sustain the environment. But, as you do the research, it is fun and you realize that you can be earth-friendly without having to compromise style or quality.”

Sachs and his wife Colleen Coffield Sachs conceptualized their store. Sachs is a 20-year veteran of the retail industry and local resident. According to the couple, Vert●able is “just one small step” in the right direction. And, Vert●able is already doing its part. Sachs estimates the reusable shopping bags by Envirosax sold at Vert●able have kept more than 20,000 plastic grocery bags out of landfills to date.

In addition to expert product suggestions and information, Sachs posts a new eco-friendly tip every few days in the store. Sachs also encourages shoppers to bring their used energy efficient light bulbs (those containing mercury) to Vert●able, and he will ensure the proper disposal or recycling of the bulbs.

Vert●able’s concept is to “encourage and teach shoppers to be more environmentally friendly.”

Sachs serves on the board for Caring and Sharing of South Walton.
