Festive Holiday Events at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort Sparkle All December Long

Destin, Fla. ((Nov. 21, 2007)– The holiday season is in full swing at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Visitors to Sandestin can treat themselves to an early gift of holiday fun at one of the many events taking place this December, including skating on Sandestin’s ice rink and photos with Santa. .

Sandestin events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. This month’s events include:

Wine Tasting
Raise a glass to the holiday season with hand-selected vintages showcased by Sandestin Wine World as part of the shop’s weekly Wine Tasting every Friday beginning at 5 p.m. Enjoy tasty wines as well as information, tips and expertise provided by the knowledgeable staff on hand at the event. Cost is $10 per person with a $5 rebate towards the purchase of featured wines. This month’s wine tasting dates are December 7, 14, 21 and 28. Call 850/622-0802 for more information.


EVENTS AT THE MARKET SHOPS AT SANDESTIN

Claus and Paws

Bring your four-legged best friends to The Market Shops at Sandestin to have their photo taken with Santa, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 1. Prices for pictures are $7 for one, $12 for two and $17 for three. Claus and Paws is a fundraiser benefiting R.U.F.F. Call 850/267-8092 for more information.

Kitchenique Cooking Class with Chef Pat Paternostro
Kitchenique, a gourmet kitchen store and cooking school located in The Market Shops at Sandestin, welcomes chef Pat Paternostro on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. Chef Paternostro will also be available to sign copies of her recent cookbook, Savoir Faire: Innovative Louisiana French Cuisine from Classic to Creative. Story Time with Santa

Charity Gift Wrapping
Bring your presents by The Market Shops at Sandestin from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2 and 8 and let the Junior League of the Emerald Coast take care of the gift wrapping. For a minimum donation of $2 the ladies of the JLEC can take care of the wrapping while you do the shopping.

Visit with Santa Claus and Dickens Carolers
Head to The Market Shops at Sandestin for a visit with Santa from 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 8, 15 and 22. Dickens Carolers will also be strolling through the shops spreading holiday cheer from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 850/267-8092.

Meet the Artist at Donna Burgess Gallery

Donna Burgess Watercolor Workshop

Memorial Day Weekend Live Entertainment
Nothing says Memorial Day like hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill, and on May 26-27 Beef ‘O’ Brady’s at The Market Shops will be on the deck grilling ‘em up.  Local bands, Reed Waddle (Saturday) and Deja Va (Sunday) will provide live entertainment from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Cypress Green as well.

Ice Skating Rink
The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin just got cooler. Now through the end of January, an ice skating rink will line the Events Plaza, transforming the Village into a tropical winter wonderland. For just $6 guests can skate the night away. Skates are available for rent as well for $2. The rink will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m.

Nautical Christmas: Santa Claus and Dickens Carolers
Get into the holiday spirit with Santa and Dickens Carolers in The Village of Baytowne Wharf on Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. Santa will be on-site, ready to hear your wish list. Bring your camera to capture the family moment forever. For more information, call 850/267-8117.

Nautical Night of Lights Christmas Boat Parade and Stroll
Catch the annual Baytowne Marina Boat Parade from the boardwalk at The Village of Baytowne Wharf for the best vantage point of them all. See boats decorated for the holidays travel through the Choctawhatchee Bay and into the Horseshoe Bayou here at Sandestin, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. New Year’s Eve at Baytowne Wharf

Enjoy live music in the Events Plaza all night long leading up to the annual firework’s extravaganza over the lagoon at midnight. The evening's entertainment includes a special performance by Sinfonia Gulf Coast beginning at 7 p.m., as well as Baton Rouge natives The Benjy Davis Project and New Orleans' own Sunpie Barnes & the Louisiana Sunspots.
