PLAN FOR A BLAST OF FUN AND MORE
The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, a Major Florida Fishing Tournament On The Gulf Coast,
Announces Plans For This Year’s Event
Destin, Fla. (May 21, 2010) – Organizers of the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin Florida Beach Resort, one of the top ten billfish tournaments in the world, today announced the event will take place as planned this June 22-27.
According to fishing tournament Director Shawna Meisner, this announcement is significant in light of the current events in the Gulf of Mexico. “We listened to participants, sponsors and the community, and evaluated the fishing conditions in the area. Proceeding with the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic sends a positive signal to not only the fishing and boating community, but also to the world that Florida’s Emerald Coast is open for tourism and fishing,” said Ms. Meisner.
The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic Florida fishing tournament will be the first major fishing tournament in the multi-state Gulf region this season. “The ECBC has become a tradition and we plan to hold true to it by hosting a great event this year that can be enjoyed by spectators and fishing enthusiasts. The venue, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, has always been the key to its success,” added Ms. Meisner.
Sandestin reports that the property has not been impacted by recent developments in the Gulf. Florida family resort activities and the beach are in full operation.
Fishing tournament organizers invite guests and spectators to “reel in the fun” at the Baytowne Marina. Family friendly tournament events include a spectacular boat parade on Thursday night, nightly weigh-ins on Friday and Saturday plus live entertainment, concerts, activities throughout the week and fireworks on Tuesday night at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. New this year is entertainment and a fashion show on Tuesday, June 22, featuring Mojo Sportswear the Florida fishing tournament’s presenting sponsor.
In addition, Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic Tournament organizers remain committed to supporting local and national charities through this event, including The Billfish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast and Harvest House.
