Line Up Of Events Summertime Fun, Sun, And Value

Destin, FL. (May 18, 2009) – This weekend marks the official beginning of the summer travel season, and for people and families looking for sun and fun, Sandestin® Golf and Beach Resort is the destination for them.   Today Sandestin announces its sensational summer line up of daily events and great rates.

Sandestin Summertime Daily Activities
Sandestin offers more than 2,400 acres of fun from the beach to the bay.  There are activities for every taste and every age ranging from golf, tennis, water sports, biking, swimming, shopping and more.    In addition to the beautiful beach and many free amenities for resort guests, Sandestin is different from other destinations in its wide variety of daily summer activities.  

Listed below is a sample list of daily June activities for children and families:

Daytime:  Gummy worm relay, aqua golf, sand dollar painting (Bayside Pool Deck starting at 10 a.m.)
Evening:   The Village of Baytowne Wharf’s “Magic Mondays.”  Children can watch a show by Magician Rick Moore at the Events Plaza at 7 and 8 p.m., or take Sandcastle Lessons with Mark Flynn at The Village’s Cannery Row from 7 – 9 p.m.
Daytime:  Limbo, diving for treasure, beach tile painting (Bayside Pool Deck starting at 10 a.m.)
Evening:   The Village of Baytowne Wharf’s Mini Gras and Boomin’ Tuesdays.   This is a night families shouldn’t miss.  For only $10 beginning at 7 p.m., a child can enjoy inflatables, crafts, magician, and have the chance to become the Mini Gras king or queen for the night.   The Boomin’ Tuesday Fireworks display is free of charge and begins at 9:15 p.m.
Daytime:  Cookie decorating, seahorse shoes, sand art (Bayside Pool Deck starting at 10 a.m.)
Evening:   The Village of Baytowne Wharf’s Concert Series including favorites like Dread Clampitt, J.P. Soars and the Red Hots, Mayhem String Band and more from 7-9 p.m.
Daytime:  Treasure hunt at Jolee Island; Bucket bounce and necklace making at Bayside Pool Deck at 11 a.m.
Evening:   Sunset Cinema every 8 p.m. will feature family friendly movie favorite.
Daytime:  Captain Davy and the Magical Pirate Show at 11:30 and 12:30 (Bayside Pool Deck).
Evening:   Coconut Radio, the Village’s house band will have people literally dancing in the streets. 
Evening:  Sandestin Saturday Beach Bonfires where adults are invited to join for live entertainment and bonfire beginning at 6-10 p.m.  Great beachside food and beverages available for purchase.  Also enjoy Coconut Radio band at the Village of Baytowne Wharf from 7-9 p.m.
Evening:   Coconut Radio, the Village’s house band will have people literally dancing in the streets from 7-9 p.m.

Mark Your Calendar for Extraordinary Events
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is also hosting major events that have become family favorite traditions.  
This Memorial Day Weekend May 22 – 25 includes a terrific series of free events starting with Friday Night Flick 3-D movie feature, live entertainment, the Roaring River Water Slide, a Memorial Fireworks Celebration on Sunday evening and other activities at Sandestin’s Village of Baytowne Wharf.
June 16-21 -- The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic fishing tournament.   One of the top 10 Billfish tournaments in the world, this event has more than 75 boats and gives serious angling teams their shot at winning a huge pay-off while receiving the royal treatment from the event’s hosts and sponsors.   A treasure trove of family fun includes live entertainment and activities for the kids all weekend long at the Baytowne Marina and The Village of Baytowne Wharf.
July 4 Weekend – You can travel through the village and experience the sights and sounds of this patriotic holiday during the “Red, White and Baytowne” celebration.  Conquer the Roaring River Water Slide, enjoy kids' crafts, participate in face painting and be prepared for a visit from Betsy Ross. The Village of Baytowne Wharf presents a magical fireworks extravaganza on Saturday evening that will illuminate the skies to celebrate our country’s Independence Day.    Live entertainment and children’s activities will also be available free of charge at The Market Shops at Sandestin on July 4 from 6-8 p.m.
August 22 -- The 22nd Annual Sandestin Triathlon will lure 700 participants for a half-mile Gulf of Mexico swim, a 20-mile bike ride along the coast, and a four-mile run through Sandestin’s beach and bayside community.  Proceeds benefit Sacred Heart Hospital.
