Here are a few of my go-to rainy day hacks that turn a weather hiccup into an opportunity for fun, connection, and relaxation at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. 

Bring the Fun Inside with Sandestinopoly 

Rainy days are perfect for family game night, and what better way to explore the resort (without getting wet) than by playing Sandestinopoly? One of the best parts about staying in a Sandestin rental is the full kitchen at your fingertips. Use the rainy downtime to relax and make yourself at home. Many of our guests use services like grocery delivery to stock the fridge before arrival. Cook up a cozy brunch, prep a comfort dinner, or pop some popcorn for a movie night. 

If you’d rather let someone else do the cooking, no problem. Restaurants are plentiful and close, from upscale dining at Hotel Effie’s Ovide to coastal casual bites at Bayside Café. Even in wet weather, you're just a shuttle ride or short stroll away from great food. 

Spa Days Are Sunshine for the Soul 

If ever there was a silver lining to a rainy day, it's this: an excuse to indulge. Book yourself a massage or facial at Spa Lilliana and give your vacation the recharge it deserves. Whether you're flying solo or planning a spa day with friends, it’s the ultimate rainy-day escape that will leave you glowing. 

Red Flags? Resort Pools to the Rescue 

Even after the skies clear, the Gulf may not be swimmable due to red or double-red flag conditions. Red means dangerous surf and swimming is not advised. Double-red means the water is closed to the public. Fortunately, Sandestin offers access to four resort pools, so you can still get your splash on without worrying about the surf. 

Balcony Happy Hour (Yes, Even in the Rain) 

Here’s a personal favorite of mine. If the rain is gentle and there's no lightning, a balcony or covered patio happy hour is pure vacation magic. Pour a glass of wine, put on your comfiest sweatshirt, and watch the rain dance over the bay, beach, or golf course. There's something so calming about it. It is Florida’s way of telling you to slow down and soak it all in. 

Florida Forecast: Ever-Changing 

It’s true what they say. If you don’t like the weather in Florida, wait a little while. Showers are often fleeting, and the sun loves to make a dramatic comeback. Rain can always part of a beach vacation here, but that doesn’t mean it ruins the fun. A rainy day at the beach beats a sunny day anywhere else.
